Abstract

The resolution of territorial problems, the definition of borders between the countries of Central-Eastern Europe following the consequences of the Second World War is highlighted. It is proven that the territorial issue was and remains the fateful, most painful and difficult in the history of all nations. Each time this issue was decided by the winners of both world wars without participation peoples who were directly affected by it. When drawing borders, the historical-ethnic rather than the ethnic-historical principle was applied to a greater extent. All this is fully confirmed by the example of solving this issue in relation to Hungary.
